First Lady Johnnie Ellis was born on December 27 to the late Asst. Superintendent John H. Sargent and First Lady Bessie Sargent. She is the second oldest of five children.
A graduate of Wilmer-Hutchins High School, she continued her education at El Centro College and Cedar Valley College.
Since April 21, 1997, Lady Ellis has faithfully served alongside her husband, Bishop Robert A. Ellis, in founding and leading Pure Word Church, Inc. Together, they have witnessed God’s abundant blessings upon the ministry.
Lady Ellis and Bishop Ellis have been married for thirty-six years. They are the proud parents of one daughter, Shanetta, and son-in-law Courtney, and are blessed with two grandsons, Anthony and Courtney, and two granddaughters, Naomi and Jada
